We started our sanctuary with planning and integrity.
The last few years of our life have been very purposeful: we were able to adopt our first Sanctuary Dog, Viejo, and bring him into our family for the last two and a half years of his life, letting him know he mattered, and loving him the way he deserved to be loved. Viejo, with his enthusiasm, gratitude, joy, and silliness, showed us again and again, that we could do this, and we were doing this the right way. We miss him daily, and have heart-warming and tearful conversations remembering him on a daily basis as well.
We were able to raise funds, and move from Southern California to Northern California to scout out an appropriate property for our sanctuary. We purchased a property in the Trinity National Forest in May 2025, and began working on the the property for our dogs.
In November 2025, we obtained grant funding to improve the property, and build fencing and housing facilities for our dogs (Thanks to the Humboldt Area Foundation and the Brockhoff Family Fund). This extremely generous grant will assist us immensely, and, we have more work to do and additional funding needs.
Our animals always come first, and we don't take in an animal until we have the resources to care for a dog.
A nonprofit is only as strong as the community that supports it. When a community pulls together, everything is possible. We are proudly a 501(c)3, which means your donation to our sanctuary is tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by the law. Please reference our EIN number 85-2681667.
We welcome donors to visit the sanctuary and meet the pack (with prior communication and approval from us). Imagine, what a beautiful moment it will be when you are thanked by an animal whose life you were able to save.
Animal rescue, especially senior dog rescue, is tough work. Our dogs need medication, special diets, and, we know we only have these sweet seniors for a limited amount of time. We know with each adoption there will be tears, and still, we take each dog into our family with love, ready to experience all the emotions -- each and every time.
We need your financial assistance to make it happen.
We provide holistic care and end of life comfort. We know when we take our dogs in, their time with us might be short. We focus on offering them a place in the pack, and filling their days with love and respect. This includes their final day with us.
Our animals know they are loved and valued, and that at their passing, they will be missed by their pack.
Thank you for supporting senior dogs!!!
